This has resulted in her loosing job and the father is working full time but is struggling not only financially but also with providing adequate care for his family.

She is now finally moving from transitional housing to permanent housing. Any assistance now would go a long ways in supporting financial independence in the future.

  • $500 – Mother with 5 children , one who is a sick preemie at VJH.Father is working out of town. This family is struggling on their limited income with the extra commuting costs of the mother who travels daily to hospital and home to take care of entire family by herself.
  • $500 – Family of three with the father recently diagnosed with cancer.They are running low on funds as mother has had to take time off work to drive husband to Kelowna for chemo and are struggling with extra commuting costs and less income .
  • $500 – Family of four just lost their home due to massive structural damage from flooding.The house was very old and they did not have insurance.Father cannot work due to injury that happened trying to save their home and they need help with the costs of a sudden move,rental of accommodations and some basics such as food.
  • $500 – Family of three with the mother recently having a stroke.Father has had to reduce his hours at work to help care for his wife and child. They require special medical equipment and care in the home that they can't afford on his limited income.
  • $500 – Newly divorced woman with two children . The father has stopped making his support payments and she is struggling to cover monthly expenses even with the support of the food bank they aren't getting enough food.
  • $500 – A couple with three children have just learned that they will loose their oldest child to terminal cancer within the next few months.Mom has quit job and father has cut back to part time to spend as much time as possible .They need assistance to cover some basic household expenses and to cover the costs of upcoming funeral.

  • $400 – Transition House – Mother and child starting over and trying to set up a new home after partner became extremely violent after going off his medication.
  • $400 – CMHA – Family has lost their husband and father to a terminal illness.The mother struggles with mental health issues and is moving closer to town to be closer to supports as they were living in a very secluded area with no transportation. A hand up will go a very long way for this family at this time.

She had in spite of circumstances been able to secure a full time job and can now set up a home for her and her child. A hand up will aid in the success of this family .

This family is living in an older house and she is having a hard time managing now with colder weather. and extra costs of utilities. A hand up while she gets stabilized in her new position will help her keep managing and living on her own.

  • $400 – CMHA – Mother of 3 children suddenly found herself a single parent after father took his own life. She is working at 2 jobs now recovering and trying to keep up with financial responsibilities. This family could really use a hand up .
  • $400 – CMHA – Single mother of one child, working no longer qualifies for subsidized housing and finds herself paying high rent while waiting for an affordable place to rent. She may not make her rent next month so a hand up would help her enormously.

August 2017

  • $400 – Transition House – Mother and teenager fled abusive relationship which started to get physical after partner lost his job. Fearing for safety ,they made a plan to escape the situation.
  • $400 – Transition House – Mother and 2 children were brought to the transition house after the RCMP were called to a domestic dispute. Mother has lost most of her and her children's belongings and now has to start over.
  • $400 – Transition House – Mother and child were relocated to another province for safety but then reconciled with abuser. The abuse continued and she has been relocated for safety several times since then and is fearfully attempting to start over.
  • $400 – CMHA – Struggling Grandmother with health challenges and unable to work, trying to look after her daughter, her grandchildren and recover from her own mothers death.
  • $400 – CMHA – Single mother of 2 children waiting for test results, dealing with chronic pain, unable to work. A hand up would really help with upcoming costs incurred with school.

  • $400 - A single working mother experiencing significant financial hardship is trying to raise her child and now disabled mother who has had a debilitating stroke. This family would benefit enormously with the support an anonymous hand up would give.
  • $400 - An aunt, who is undergoing cancer treatments and an uncle who has been in a devastating accident and is in the Vancouver Hospital trying to recover , are struggling with the extra costs of transportation to and from the hospitals and raising their nephew. They have been drained financially, physically and emotionally. This family so desperately needs a hand up to help them get thru this terrible time.

June 2017

  • $400 - Family with 3 children experiencing not only fear and sadness but also financial hardship when father suddenly became extremely ill. He can no longer work and prognosis is very poor. Medical employment insurance has ran out and it will be a while before federal disability benefits kick in. Could really use a hand up and some hope.
  • $400 - Couple decided to take care and raise one of their sisters child after she became ill and could not take care of the child any more. Now one of them has become ill and this has resulted in not being able to work causing them to struggle to make enough money for food each month.
  • $400 - Single mother of two relocated to Vernon to support one of her children while attending university. The young adult was doing very well ready to receive his next year with full academic scholarship when he became one of the hundreds of fentanyl overdose deaths in BC. Mother and remaining sibling are immobilized with sadness and grief.Taking time off work and using her savings for the funeral this family is experiencing financial hardship. The Miracle Bucket will give her time to grieve and some financial reprieve.

Trying to restart her life finding another job in a new community she has found out her mother is very ill and she is unable to visit her due to it being unsafe for her to return to the area she ran from.A hand up with some hope would really help.
  • $400 – Single mother of two struggling with the return of cancer is barely surviving on minimal disability benefits . Could use some help with getting food .
  • $400 – Family with 3 children tragically lost everything in a house fire including their dog. They had no rental insurance due to being low income and could really use some help in replacing clothing , basic personal hygiene items and figuring out where to go next.
  • $400 – Single mother of 1 child lost her job due to a relapse with her severe mental illness. She is trying to recover and find a new job at the same time . In desperate need of a hand up and help.

Because this is considered as against religious doctrine they have been “cut off” from any community and family support and would really benefit from a hand up until they can get settled and father employed.
  • $400 – Single mom ,who has a small child, has just been diagnosed with a severe disease and is struggling with not only the treatment but anxiety and depression.Prior to diagnosis, she was working full time, but cannot continue due to extreme fatigue from treatment.

  • $400 – Single mom fleeing a mentally abusive husband, has had to relocate and move her small family in with her elderly parents.Struggling with the separation and trying very hard to find work after relocating so she can support herself and family.
  • $400 – This family is homeless disabled from a house fire.Both parents suffer with mental illness challenges and the family has had to separate to maintain temporary shelter, with father couch surfing, until they can afford a damage deposit and find a rental that is affordable.
  • $400 – Single mom with small family and low income has had to live in challenging and unsafe neighborhoods,resulting in being completely robbed. They had no insurance and have nothing left.They would benefit from some help to get them back on their feet.
  • $400 – Young Father recently came out of a 28 day coma from an accident. He is still in recovery and will take time before he can return back to work but his medical EI has ran out. The mother has had to be the primary earner but is now on maternity leave.The Miracle Bucket will help them get through until she is able to return to work.
  • $400 – Single mom with 2 children in a traumatic accident. Fortunate to be alive but unable to return to work has run out of medical EI and not eligible for additional income security. She has had to give up her rental home,move children with father and temporarily live with a friend until she has completed rehabilitation.Until then,she would benefit from a Miracle in order that she and her children can reunite under one roof.
  • $400 – Family of four, with mother struggling with severe mental challenges,unable to work, and father has been just diagnosed with a rare and chronic disease.His medication is extremely expensive costing over $1000.00 a month and not covered by the BC Fair Pharmacare plan. Without these medications symptoms would get worse. Because of this, this family is experiencing significant financial hardship making it difficult to afford housing and food.

October 2016

  • $400 – CMHA – Single dad with child,raising child on his own due to mother having to leave because of mental health and addiction issues. Usually goes away to work but has had to stay to maintain his small family.EI has just ran out and he is selling firewood until he can secure a local job.
  • $400 – CMHA – Single Mom with one child has finally landed a job in the work she just completed training for.However, start up costs are high for transportation and daycare.A Miracle Bucket would help provide a bridge until she receives her first paycheck.

  • $400 – Family with young child, father terminally ill waiting for bed in Hospice. Mom cannot work while caring for husband and son. Very low income and in need of assistance
  • $400 – Mom and Dad with 3 children. Father has just found out he is terminally ill and cannot work to support his family.
  • $400 – Single grandmother caring for her grandchild, who has a severe health condition that will require care for an undetermined amount of time at children’s hospital. Grandmother who works for minimum wage has to take time off, unpaid, to provide care and transportation.
